In Ovrture, a content panel is the foundational element for creating and organizing content within your sites and reports. Think of it as a customizable section where you can add text, images, links, and other assets. With Ovrture’s intuitive WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, you can easily populate custom-designed content panel templates with the information you want to share.
Each content panel serves as a building block for key sections like giving opportunity summaries, campaign updates, or featured news. And because these panels can be reused across different reports and sites, they’re essential for maintaining consistent messaging across various audiences.

Inherited Content Panels take this concept a step further. They allow you to create a content panel that can be used across multiple sites and reports and is centrally managed. The best part? When you update this panel once, the changes automatically appear everywhere it’s used. Imagine the time saved—no more repetitive edits or worrying about consistency across different platforms. Just one update, and it’s done!

Previously, our clients faced a tough choice when a typo or other error was discovered: either update each report or site individually or start the site or report creation process from the beginning. Neither option was ideal.

Imagine you’re responsible for producing stewardship reports or solicitation sites with standard sections like campus-wide impact stories, a video message from a program director, or a capital campaign update. This new type of panel allows you to place a centrally managed panel in many places, and update those over time. For instance, you can change out the news stories as newer ones or more relevant ones become available. A panel like this would also let you replace a document download for the newest edition, with just one edit.

While Inherited Content Panels are excellent for maintaining consistency, there are times when you need more flexibility. That’s where Editable Content Panels come in. All panel layouts are available in both Inherited and Editable types.

- Permanent Panel Type: Once you decide whether a panel will be inherited or editable, this choice is permanent. It’s crucial to select the right type based on your content management needs from the start. (However, it is very easy to duplicate any panel and opt for the other type.)
