Enhanced Data Tracing & Controls
More and more, our clients are using our Open API and Blackbaud CRM integration to drastically reduce user friction, establish a single source of truth for critical data points, and obtain far more insightful cross-platform analytics. As a team, we are inspired by the possibilities and, naturally, committed to identifying, building, and deploying new connections to our platform that place Ovrture at the heart of our clients’ data ecosystems (CRMs, DAMs, etc.).
With this new way of working, however, come some practical requirements to clearly trace and document how data is flowing and how changes are being written to the platform. Accordingly, we are thrilled to announce the deployment of several new, integrated features to the Ovrture platform that will elevate our clients’ data visibility and management capabilities, including:
Change Log
Each core component of Ovrture (users, records, sites, reports, etc.) now has a readily accessible on-screen change log. This allows anyone with access to that “bucket” to see how any item has been modified, specifically tracing when the action occurred, who the actor was, and what event occurred.
Why does this matter? Our platform is built to connect the digital advancement office. Transparency as to how data is being written, edited, or deleted is essential to make sure a client team is collaborating with maximum efficiency.
System Log
All of the changes that occur across a client system can also be accessed via an enhanced System Log, in both an on-screen table and an export. It compiles all the detailed change logs into a single comprehensive view for holistic auditing and monitoring.
Why does this matter? There’s valuable business intelligence available to your team and analysts that can help you shape your work processes to maximize efficiency and untangle any mysteries about how everything got to be how it currently stands. For instance, this log will display information about a site from the moment of its creation, through each editing session, when the name data changed, when it moved from one portfolio to another, whether it was paused at any point, and on and on. It’s kind of like a traffic helicopter view of the site’s whole journey to the present moment.
API Dashboard
Admins now have visible, granular control over data importing and exporting via API. As we continue to expand our use of API connections to CRMs and other data sources, this dashboard will be critical in providing clients more flexibility to manage data workflows to suit their needs as they evolve.
Why does this matter? Consider this example: ABC University wants to automate their donor data to refresh weekly but keep their fund financial data as a manual upload. Why? Many fundraising offices are confident in their CRM name data since that’s being vetted and used elsewhere, so automating this refresh offers greater accuracy and saves time. On the other hand, the manual steps of pulling data like financial figures allows for a moment of data cleaning and preparation before it goes into Ovrture to become donor-facing. The same can go for the stories of impact that require proofing or shaping before they can fit into a particular impact template. Furthermore, we know this can all change over time — when the controller is in your hands, you’re empowered to adjust as your needs evolve.
We realize that change logs may not sound very exciting. That said, we assure you it is already proving invaluable for our client teams, especially those who have connected Ovrture to their organization’s data ecosystem.
We would love to walk you through this enhancement and our platform. Please reach out if you’re ready to schedule a demo or want to learn more about Ovrture and our vision for person-to-person digital fundraising.
