Well Aligned: Improve Donor Engagement with Less Effort
January 26, 2023
If improving donor engagement and saving staff time are your ambitions, you’re in good company. Donor engagement tops the list of fundraising challenges for 2023, according to a recent survey of 890 nonprofit professionals. An overwhelming 88% of respondents rate this as a primary challenge, alongside staff turnover (60%). As the newest member of the Ovrture team, I’ve been asking some essential questions and finding some very promising connections between the latest fundraising studies and our own client feedback.
Why do organizations partner with Ovrture? Once they do, what benefits are they seeing for their staff and donors? Furthermore, what do they share in common with the wider industry? The wording differs slightly, but topping all three lists are these two things:
- Increased donor engagement
- Time savings
Improving donor engagement and staff efficiencies are top concerns for our clients and our sector. They are also the top benefits Ovrture is helping to deliver. Let’s take a look at how we got here.
Minding the gap in donor engagement
Years ago, the gap where Ovrture now exists became visible to our team while working with a nonprofit on their campaign. With time, fantastic partnerships, and a very keen scope, Ovrture has emerged and continues to grow in scale and sophistication. Much of that success is due to our partnership with clients. We help them improve their donor engagement while also making it easier and faster for staff to accomplish by taking the time to understand their needs. As the 2023 outlook survey illustrates, the wider sector is asking this same question. Regarding fundraising technology, the authors of the report share that “nonprofits are looking for differentiators that make giving fast, easy, and personalized.”
For some advancement teams, Ovrture is one of the ways they are catching donors’ attention while expanding what their staff can accomplish. Ovrture helps solve the burden of knitting bespoke design with content and data in a way that is flexible enough to allow for (but not require) those special human touches. It’s the only enterprise technology option made specifically for donor relations that combines these capabilities with a high quality design that is true to the charitable organization’s brand.
Looking ahead
We know you’re not stopping there, and neither are we. The organizations we work with are seeing additional benefits in cost savings, increased donor gifts, and increased gift officer productivity. By their nature, these types of results increase over time as workflows adjust and as donors begin to expect digital reporting and curated cultivation content. Long term growth in these areas begins to develop while the first two benefits are felt right away.
The road ahead is exciting! With a couple months under my belt and the chance to connect our story to industry and client data, I can see why we are growing. We’ll keep asking, solving, and building as our clients help us push the limits of cultivation and stewardship. We are better when we partner together. We’re listening.
